Halloween Decoration Crafts

Halloween is a fun time for kids and adults as well.  You can have some holiday fun of your own- with a few easy Halloween deocration crafts that the whole family will enjoy. Finally, what is Halloween without tiny critters that creep, crawl, and spook us all?

Halloween decoration crafts can complement the yard decorations. You can use Halloween decoration crafts that are based on plants which you can produce on your own possession. They can ornament your front door, porch, deck, gazebo, storage shed, arbor, etc.

For Halloween decoration crafts carving pumpkin is cool, but you can use a hardshell gourd, instead!  Other types are “bushel" gourds that come in different shapes, including one type that has the same rounded shape pumpkins have -- making them ideal for jack-o'-lanterns.

Well dried hardshell gourds are permanent, so they can be used year in and year out for Halloween decoration crafts. For outdoor use, guard them from the elements with shellac or a similar coating. In fact, a bushel gourd could also provide as the head for the scarecrow. Just bore holes in the bottom, pass thread through the holes and fasten the gourd to the scarecrow's shirt collar.

A large, thick, firmly wound grapevine wreath is preferable for the Halloween decoration crafts idea. They're simple enough to create. Just twist the vines into a hoop-shape and tie it off with twine. If you don't feel like making your own grapevine wreath you can buy one already made at a store that sells Halloween decoration crafts.

Massed together in a wreath, ornamental gourds can be quite outstanding. Simply drill holes in their bottoms and put in floral sticks in these holes, leaving at least 3" of stick hanging out. Wedge the other end of the stick into the grapevine wreath. Shellacking the gourds will help safeguard their color and give them a burnish.
